Marketing Tips for an iPhone App Developer

Marketing Tips | 06:00 |

The job of an iPhone or Android app developer does not end when their output is launched. The new app should be considered a product that must be promoted to appeal to the right consumers. No one would download your app if they do not know what it is.
One problem app developers overlook is the lack of marketing budget. Oftentimes, app developers expend most of their resources on the development. Little is left for everything else-such as marketing afterwards. Then again, marketing your product is possible, despite the tough budget.

People who need to promote their products, but with a tough budget, usually rely on social media. Twitter is one of the most popular social networking sites. You can make a Twitter account to promote your product. The first thing to do is sign up for a Twitter account for your app. Then, the next thing you should do is encourage people to follow you. But, social media marketing is a multifaceted process. Create a blog, Facebook account, and a YouTube channel. Direct people from these sites to your twitter account to follow you. You can also post a link of your videos or blog posts on your tweets.
Create a how-to video.
It's better to give instructions on how to play your game app in a video than in text. People browsing through the app store would not know which one to pick until learning about your game application. You will appear friendlier to your patrons if you give them something about your product that is worth taking a look at. If you made a game application, show them videos on how to play it. You don't need to buy a professional video camera. Even a simple video taken in your room is enough. There are video sharing sites where you can upload your creations. YouTube and Vimeo are the most popular. Share your videos on your blog, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
Create a blog.
Blogging is more convenient than building a website. You can create a blog in minutes and start blogging about your application. Make your blog your platform for your creations. People who come across your application on the internet will want to know more about it. They will search for it on Google and expect to find information about it. Who else will provide the information about it other than the iPhone app developer himself? Make sure you update your blog every now and then.
Give out promos.
Apple allows iPhone app producers to download a maximum of 50 application promo codes that the iTunes Store accepts. Of course, you have to spread the word about this limited number of promo codes on your Facebook or Twitter pages. That is one way to create a buzz. You can tell your friends about the promo codes and ask them to spread the word. People may come hurrying to get a promo code. The goal is to make as many people as you can, know about your product, even though not all of them will eventually buy it.
Write a press release.
Another way to create a buzz is to write press releases about your new application. Make sure that it's engaging. Tell the world about your new product, for example, inform readers about its interesting features. Then, direct them to your website or blog at the end of the write-up.
